As always, people come and go as circumstances change, but there remains a core, keen to be out on the hills.

You ask after Eric, sadly he passed away in August last year aged 81. He was still active in the club, attending our Annual Dinner and Burns suppers. He was always full of enthusiasm and generous with his time for Outward Bound and the Moray Club.

It would be a pleasure to meet you the next time you are in Glasgow.
Kind Regards
BillMChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16367249411629569912noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8003711654439794450.post-74711766718971058802013-01-29T21:30:25.509+00:002013-01-29T21:30:25.509+00:00On hearing the name on television several months b...On hearing the name on television several months back I thought it was too much a coincidence for it not to be something I was associated with in the dark ages of 1964.I was pleasantly surprised therefore to see my name on your website along with a photograph of the original committee on Red Pike,Buttermere in 1965.(I'm 2nd on left squatting) I'm so pleased that the club survived and grew into something of real purpose and from what I have seen on your pages everyone associated with it appear to have shared some wonderful memories together? I note that Eric Scott was involved in the early years and I sincerely hope my friend survived into old age like yours truly??
I myself reside in the south east of England now after a long work association on the European continent.
I still have family ties in the Glasgow area which I last visited back in 2009 so I would be interested in meeting up with some of you should I come up in the future?

Sincerely, Alex.Watson.Alexander Watsonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8003711654439794450.post-34102600126283945322012-05-09T14:44:06.317+01:002012-05-09T14:44:06.317+01:00Bob, the devastation our woodland has taken is sta...Bob, the devastation our woodland has taken is staggering – every wood or group of trees seems to have been affected.
We can’t do big days like we used to, but still have a lot of laughs exploring Scotland, cycling and kayaking are easier on the knees than hillwalking :)Billnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8003711654439794450.post-30872344870510172012-05-08T21:26:12.711+01:002012-05-08T21:26:12.711+01:00Hi Bob - the 3D map is good fun, useful for planni...Hi Bob - the 3D map is good fun, useful for planning cycle routes, you can see how hilly its going to be!Billnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8003711654439794450.post-30549370821363213222012-05-06T11:10:37.050+01:002012-05-06T11:10:37.050+01:00Did this tour in an inflatable rib boat years ago....Did this tour in an inflatable rib boat years ago.Amazing Island to tour round.Be Even wilder in Kayaks.Hallaig is a real hidden gem of a place.blueskyscotlandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09373718369702364265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8003711654439794450.post-75816738963508991212012-05-06T11:05:06.994+01:002012-05-06T11:05:06.994+01:00The fallen trees in the central belt country wide ...The fallen trees in the central belt country wide this year must be numbered in the millions.I,m still finding exposed forests in may with a fifth of all trees down.
Glad to see you are still all getting out as a club and having fun.blueskyscotlandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09373718369702364265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8003711654439794450.post-52218562850010705042012-05-06T10:58:16.232+01:002012-05-06T10:58:16.232+01:00Looks a good day Bill.Like the 3D map.I,m still a ...Looks a good day Bill.Like the 3D map.I,m still a paper map man myself. Its been five years since I last looked at a compass though as I never need one on the hills these days.No mist :)blueskyscotlandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09373718369702364265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8003711654439794450.post-90233415325444284952012-03-28T13:48:54.600+01:002012-03-28T13:48:54.600+01:00Hello Isabel
Good to hear from you again.
Your me...Hello Isabel
Good to hear from you again.
Your memory is good…the club did have a special dinner on the Carrick (now known as the City of Adelaide) in 1986.
Looking back through Journal 11 there is no specific reference to the occasion.
It was our 21st birthday dinner and there are a few pictures of the cake and club members ‘below deck’ - it will take a bit of digging in the slide boxes to find them! Bruce Reynolds organised this event through one of his neighbours who was an RNVR member – the Carrick was their clubhouse.
We did have a ‘normal’ annual dinner in December that year, in the Bridge of Orchy, using the Ski Lodge as our base, which explains why there is no reference to ‘The Carrick’ on the dinner page.
We’ll put one there, it makes the record more complete.
Be delighted to see you and family out on a trip sometime.
Don’t forget about the dinner, it’s usually November…..
BillBillnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8003711654439794450.post-87976828418261808242012-03-26T12:58:10.130+01:002012-03-26T12:58:10.130+01:00A Dinner on the Carrick?
