Crubenmore Lodge - Annual Dinner 2008

Crubenmore
43rd Annual Dinner
15th-16th Novemeber
This years annual dinner was a different format from our usual hotel based treat. We had decided on a 'do it yourself' weekend, and it turned out to be very successful.

The house we hired was an old Edwardian Hunting Lodge, built in 1877. It has a comfortable 'lived in' feel to it.
The drawing room had a wood burning stove which was greedy for wood!
Being based in the Pass of Drumochter meant that we had a choice of relatively easy hills on our doorstep, and a party made their way to the summit of Meall Cuaich. Some had a super day cycling in Rothiemurchus but Bill spent all day in bed, a nasty virus had floored him.

After the days activities everyone rallied for our evening dinner, Bill (Lazarus) making a remarkable recovery!
It was a huge dining table and it held us all comfortably. This was the Jockey's side.
......and this was the Snooty Fox side!
How did David & Ron manage to get seats next to our bar?
Dee was on form, and had camera on hand to record any embarrasing moments.......
Graham too was on form; be careful when he has a mischievious smile!
Of course when he's looking after 'guests' it's a serious matter......
Bruce held his audience with some funny tales and stories, he really is a seanachaidh.
Jim had a fit of the giggles.

and Susan had a line up.
After such a big meal you need to relax, Elizabeth made herself at home.
We played charades, can't remember what Elizabeth was describing, make your own guess!
On Sunday, Susan and Colin showed that the are real swingers, steamy windows too!
The rest of the party decided cycling was enough excercise for a Sunday morning and chose the quiet road  alongside the River Truim. It's part of the national cycle route to Inverness and is a world away from the A9.
Anne cycles daily, she's easily the Chris Hoy of our team!
This should be titled 'was it something I said?'
The journey down to Dalwhinnie and back was an easy and enjoyable 10 miles, just enough to blow the cobwebs away.
The landscape around Dalwhinnie and Cuaich is big, empty and desolate, but you don't appreciate this speeding up the A9.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their stay in the Lodge, wonder what other big houses we can hire for next year?

Hi Bill, Swingers and line ups–no wonder my reputation is at rock bottom (no pun intended there for a hill walking club!!!) Great photos. Susan

The so called bar beside the dinner table was just empty cardboard whisky containers-Damn!
And yes I did check them all!

...great pics and enjoyable read. In future can you only photograph me on my 'good side'- I'll leave you to figure that out.

See you on the hills soon
