Background about Fearnan -
it is no longer an outdoor centre and was on the market during 2011

The estate agent marketing literature stated,

'The former school room was built as a Free Church School around the mid 1800s, with the Schoolhouse following in the early 1900s. Until fairly recently it was used as an Outdoor Centre. The building was originally two individual buildings of stone and slate roof construction. One building is of single storey, which has then been connected with an inner hall to the two storey building. The accommodation comprises of five individual rooms, kitchen, three bathroom/shower rooms and changing room.
The property also requires major refurbishment...
Offers in Excess of £250,000

Can anyone remember how much it was for a weekend hire?

Loch Ailort - 1986 - Journal 10

Islands in the Sun

In the 1980's the club always had a 'Midsummer Meet' near Arisaig on the west coast of Scotland.

For many of these years Outward Bound Loch Eil kindly lent us a trailer, fully loaded with 'plastic boats', which club members used to explore the many skerries and islets.

Every one of the trips was special

The island of Rum at midnight - almost a tropical paradise!

This was one of the most memorable - temperatures of 27c being unusual....

Loudoun Hill - Journal 06 - 1982

Rock Climbing on Loudoun Hill

The gear (or lack of it....)
shows what was achieved 'in the old days' with friends.
We didn't have technical 'Friends' then!
Jim, looking for lost coins!

Loudoun Hill is a volcanic plug just outside the town of
Darvel and Strathaven.
There are three faces of Trachyte rock which face south
and dry quickly.
The climbs tackled by the club included Pulpit Crack grade HVS and Pulpit Arete graded Severe
